Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters
When we received the opportunity to cut a version of “Little Boxes” for
the show, we were in the middle of working on the Boxmasters project at
my studio “The Cave,” so we were all set up to get right to it. We knew
that we didn’t need to change anything about the song, just to give it
the Boxmaster sound. I know that not many people are aware of that sound
since we won’t have a record out until later in the year or next year,
but it’s something that we’re very proud of. I play the hillbilly beat
and sing the lead vocal, J.D. Andrew plays the bass and acoustic guitar
and also sings the harmony vocal, and Mike Butler plays the Dobro. Our
usual Boxmaster sound is a very electrified hillbilly sound, but we
didn’t want to take the song too far away from the original, so we kept
it mostly acoustic with the hillbilly beat. We are very honored to have
our version chosen for such a great show. We hope you like it.

Steve - August 22nd, 2007 at 9:20 pmWhat a treat! More, more, more!!!!! (That’s not a request for an Andrea True cover–just more Boxmasters!)
Cynthia H. - August 23rd, 2007 at 7:00 pmThis is a great version of the song. Been wanting to hear it ever since I knew Billy Bob and the Boxmasters were selected to record it.
Having listened to the other artists rendition, in my opinion this is exactly ‘how’ the song should be performed.
Perfection!!!
